Overnight Campout!

We have planned an overnight campout to a nearby campsite called "Beacon Rock".  This is a wonderful campground that is only about 45 minutes from our hotel.  It is right on the Columbia River and features a huge rock (the second largest single rock in the world!).  There is a river shoreline to go to and there is a trail taking you to the top of the rock (or almost to the top....I haven't been there yet).

We have reserved the group campground for the night of Wednesday, July 2.  There are two camping shelters that we can rent - three sided structures with a roof that each have 8 sleeping bunks.  There is also a kitchen shelter with electricity and water, a large campfire ring, and restrooms.  There is a  lot of room for more tents, and showers are in the nearby main campground.

We will plan the food for lunch and dinner on Wednesday, and breakfast and lunch on Thursday for anyone who lets us know that they plan to come by Sunday, June 29.  If people decide to come after that time they should bring their own food.  By the way, this is a large campsite and there is plenty of room for tents and parking.

This campout is designed for teens and young adults, and we will be planning for that age.  Other older youth are welcome to come if they bring their own tents.  Children younger than 12 can only come if they come with their parents or an adult over 25, and those adults are completely responsible for the children they bring.  These can't be the same adults that are already helping with the teens.

More details and the per person cost for being part of the camp will be put up here soon.  Emil Ward and other young adults from the Portland area will be helping to lead this campout.  Please let me know if you would also like to help out.
